Star Drones Wins the “Race of Entrepreneurial Ideas” with Its Innovative Project ‘Wasit’
In a remarkable achievement that reflects the spirit of innovation and leadership, Star Drones proudly announced its victory in the “Race of Entrepreneurial Ideas” competition organized by the SME Development Authority in collaboration with Nama Group.
The competition aimed to identify and develop innovative solutions to one of Oman’s key environmental and industrial challenges — the issue of excessive salinity in some of Nama’s plants.
Leveraging its expertise in drone technology, data analysis, and smart monitoring systems, Star Drones developed a groundbreaking proposal using unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to assess and support salinity reduction processes efficiently and sustainably.
This approach impressed the judges for its creativity, feasibility, and long-term environmental impact, positioning Star Drones among the most promising technology startups in the region.

Following this success, the company launched its pilot project “Wasit” in partnership with Nama Company, marking a new phase of collaboration toward sustainable water and environmental management.
“Winning this competition is not just a recognition of our technical capabilities but also a testament to our vision of harnessing drone technology for environmental sustainability,” said a spokesperson from Star Drones. “We believe that ‘Wasit’ will pave the way for innovative, scalable solutions that can benefit industries and communities alike.”
With this milestone, Star Drones reaffirms its position as a national leader in drone innovation, committed to advancing smart and eco-friendly technologies in line with Oman Vision 2040. Stay tuned as we move forward with the implementation of Wasit, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for Oman.
